Unexpected Blessings

Blessings come in so many ways and I believe that God works through every situation. I believe that even more strongly after the last 5 1/2 weeks of caring for an injured hubby as well as the two little miracles we have been blessed with.

Throughout a broken leg, surgery, and a long road to recovery, God has been faithful and His blessings are without ceasing. From a small town where there is only 1 servicing ambulance between Wiarton and Tobermory that happened to be 10 mins from Chris when he had his accident, to the only location on the trail they were riding that was less than 1 km from the road, to the family of God we are blessed by, we are encouraged through all the ways He has shown Himself faithful and true.

So many blessings that I would spend the better part of the afternoon writing, are not lost on Chris and I. The church family we didn't know existed in Owen Sound, not only allowed us to have their youth pastor, Colleen, and her assistant Dave for the week to take care of our needs, having lunch with Olivia in the cafeteria, paying for our hotel stay for 3 nights, taking Olivia's laundry to their home to wash and return for me, providing all of our meals and watching the babes while I got diapers and essentials we had run out of because of our "extended stay". The blessings were endless and beyond all imagination.

Returning home was difficult at best, adjusting to new routines, losing my "team mate", a preschooler who took the opportunity to "test" daddy's capabilities in discipline while on his crutches, and a baby who was feeling the stress in his own ways. Through this, God has remained faithful and we are beyond grateful to Him.

Beyond the injury and recovery, God has blessed us with family who are on call anytime to help with anything we need, friends who come over and give us a date night while they watch our babes, new friends who felt the call to send us a message in the mail and blessing us with a gift card for groceries, the lady who returned my wallet while jogging by our house I dropped while getting David from the car, and the endless prayers and love that are continual.

In the natural world we are surrounded by hospital bills, a car that needs to be repaired from Chris' hit and run accident last fall, endless piles of laundry, diapers, dishes and cleaning. But through it all we are blessed, because we had hospitals and ambulances ready to help, a car that still runs, a husband who was only injured and not killed, a washing machine and dryer ready to run as soon as I push the button, diapers for a baby who is happy and loving, a dishwasher that takes a huge weight off my shoulders and a preschooler who can't wait to help fold laundry, vaccuum, tidy her room, make her bed and empty the dishwasher with me. Blessed? Seems so inadequate!

Psalm 89:5 The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. (NIV)
